We had a great time this past weekend, as both Kionna and Shaya's teams played at the Summer Jam in Bloomington, MN.
Kionna's team did well, and the semi-final game (it was all bracket-play) against the North Tartan Larson team should have probably been the championship game. It was a nail-biter, and IBCA Select Red was up one point with 9 seconds left. But Amanda Zimmerman scored a left-handed lay-up for 2 and with under 4 seconds left at that point, IBCA was not able to get another shot. Kionna had 10 points and 3 rebounds, as well as 2 assists, a steal and 2 tips that got us the ball back in this game --- as well as playing some terrific "D". We won the last game and the girls took 3rd in the tournament. (North Tartan went on to beat a MN Stars team by 22 in the championship game.)
Shaya's team won all of their games - and Shaya had a really great tournament. She played so well and had just tons of great moves, shots and as usual, great defense. Her team played very well. This was a great tournament to win.
On an unrelated note - Kionna turned 16 today and obtained her license. She also found out her finger is not broken - so a good day for her! :)
Next up - Kionna will be making her way to Manhattan, KS this Friday with her dad for the K-State Elite camp, while Shaya plays her first game of the Adidas Midwest Classic here in Ames at 5 pm on Friday night.
