I will start with Shaya and the 12U AAU Nationals update...
Last year, this same team lost every game at nationals - most of them by 20 or more points. I think the least amount they lost by was 14 point. This year, they were able to win 2 games, and were competitive in all their games. Winning the first game in pool play was great: 51-16 against the Michigan Mystics. Next, they played the Nashville Music City Players and lost by 4; 50-54. During the third and final pool play game, fairly early our point guard was injured. They were playing against the Missouri Valley Blazers Elite - a very good team - and ended up losing 31-53. This was one of Shaya's best games.
As third in their pool, they were placed into the Classic Winners Bracket, and one their first bracket game against the NE/MA Lady Predators, 58-44. They lost then to the Illinois X-Citement, 27-33. And their final loss was to the PV DreamMakers, 32-42.
I will post a link or two of Shaya at this tournament, as she really stepped up as a leader of her team (especially without a true point guard), and really had a nose for the bucket, as well as playing amazing defense and pulling down some big rebounds (I could be a little biased - but I really believe she played great!)
