Sorry for not adding more to the update in the past couple weeks. Shaya's eigth grade team is doing well. They are 6-1, with their only loss coming from their trip to SE Polk. During the last game (on Monday), Shaya played point guard/post, and they did very well. She plays next Monday (12/08) against Indianola, and then 12/15 (Urbandale), 12/16 (Johnston), and 12/18 (Indianola) to end their season.
As far as Kionna and the AHS GBB Team - they are 2-0! Ames played Des Moines Hoover on 11/28, and Kionna got into foul trouble and sat most of the first half. She helped in the 4th reduce the deficit and get Ames back on top. She ended up with 10 points and 13 rebounds for the game. They played Urbandale last night (12/02) and again - it was a bit of a slow start. I think the team needs a little more time to adjust to each other, but they do appear to be getting better. Kionna and Trisha (her point guard) both had 18 points, and Kionna had 10 rebounds (she also had 4 fouls again!!!) They had two other girls with 10 points each (Maura Owings, and the freshman - Cheyenne Pritchard). This Friday night (12/05) they go to Des Moines Roosevelt, and hopefully can move to 3-0.
