Ames beats Dowling Catholic

Well - Ames is 4-0 and last night, they looked a lot more like a #3 team.

Coach Sullivan (AHS coach) will sit you if you get your 2nd foul in the first half - doesn't matter who you are. Kionna went to sit with around 5 minutes left in the second quarter (she is working on this...)

Second half, after all that rest.......... :)
Kionna came out very strong. Her third quarter saw two And-1's, a few blocked shots, and a whole lot of rebounds. 4th quarter with about 4 minutes left, she went up for a rebound and had her feet taken out from under her coming down. There was a loud noise - I thought it was her elbow, the people behind me thought it was her head... She did not get up. When they finally helped her to her feet, she was not putting any weight on her right leg, and I was pretty sick. Japannah went down right away to the training room, and a physician whose son plays on the guys team came in to check her out. Looks like she landed on her tailbone - there was a bruise and some swelling, and she was sore. We were worried what it would look like this morning, but she was walking okay; still left - left - left up the stairs - but otherwise, pretty blessed with something that appears relatively minor. Not sure what condition she will be in for practice (probably better to go slow and easy)...

Anyhow, she was able to play two strong quarters (smile), and they won the game 61-39. The link to the Tribune article is at: http://www.midiowanews.com/site/tab1.cfm?newsid=20218039&BRD=2700&PAG=461&dept_id=554325&rfi=6

This is her third double-double for the season so far, so not a bad start! They play Waukee at home on Friday night!
