Season Update... Coming up on the Post-Season

Since January 12 – a lot of games to update on…

Vs. Waukee on January 15 – a bad loss at home. The girls were not playing well at all.
Vs. Mason City on January 16 – a worse loss away from home.
Vs. Des Moines East on January 19 – the team played hard and played well. We led for almost the entire game, but could not withstand a rally by East in the 4th quarter.
Vs. Fort Dodge on January 22 – a win, but did not play great.
Vs. South East Polk on January 26 – another win that was pretty ugly.
Vs. Valley on January 29 – a good win at home.
Vs. Lincoln on February 2 – another great win at home.
Vs. Marshalltown on February 5 – another good win. The team is looking stronger.
Vs. Sioux City North on February 6 – came out very strong and led the entire game. Despite a rally by SC North, held on for a good win.

If we are not snowed out, Ames will play at Indianola tomorrow (Tuesday, Feb 9), and then have their last game on Friday against Mason City at home (hopefully can avenge the earlier season loss to Mason City). Friday’s game is Senior Night as well.

If we can pick up the two more wins, our record going into post-season will be 14-7.

Post-season play begins at Ames on Tuesday, Feb 17 at 7 pm. The first round game will be vs. Fort Dodge. With a win, the girls would then go on to face Mason City again at Mason City on Saturday, Feb 20 at 7 pm. Another win would find the girls once again playing Sioux City North at Fort Dodge on Tuesday Feb 23. Three games to get to state. It will be exciting to see how things work out this season. The girls finally seem to be figuring out how to play together. It has taken a long time, but it is good to see it.
