Ames played #5 West Des Moines Valley at home last night, and what a game! In the first few minutes of the game, we were behind by 10. But Trisha had 18 points in the first half, and we were ahead by 10 at halftime. We came out, and Valley scored 9 straight points on us before we got going again. We had a cushion on the scoreboard a few times - but down to the last seconds and last possessions, Valley held on. We beat them by 2 points, 55-53. (Whew!)
Coming off the Johnston game (where she was sick and fouled out), Kionna played very well. One foul in the first half (but three in the 4th). She still was playing agressive - and probably could have been called for a couple more in the first half. She missed a few easy buckets, but made up for this in her defense and at the freethrow line. She ended the game with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 7 blocks - so all in all, a strong game.
